 Alumni Profiles

Originally from Alexandra, I started at St Kevin’s in 1998 in the boarding hostel. Following in the footsteps of my Father Brent (who still loves flicking through the old SKC magazines) and my older brother Hayden.
We were encouraged to try activities outside of our comfort zone and build resilience. We learnt about perseverance, commitment, loyalty, respect, and reliability. With plenty of time for laughter and fun along the way! All things that I have tried to pull through my life beyond St Kevin’s.
I appreciated the structure that the school offered, and I still function best with a good routine. I loved rowing and enjoyed the collaborative nature of the sport and time outside on the water. My favoured subjects at school were English, Economics and History. The topics covered in Mr Hitchcock’s Economics class were wide ranging and entertaining and the Economics papers at University were to be my most favoured. I remember being encouraged to sing loudly and with confidence in church or when practicing for the Choral Festival, even for those of us that are not so talented in that area. Enthusiastic participation in all activities was role modelled by others and we followed suit.
I have many fond memories from St Kevin’s, and I am grateful for the time I spent there. The friendships made continue to be strong. Eighteen years after graduating, I had several SKC alumni in attendance at my Wedding, including three of my Bridesmaids and the current Deputy Principal. We also utilised the amazing videography skills of the schools Community Builder who produces this newsletter!
After graduating with a Commerce Degree from Otago Uni I spent five years with the BNZ in Christchurch in Retail Banking and International Trade. I then moved to Australia where I held roles in Global Markets for five years at ANZ’s head office in Melbourne before moving to the Sunshine Coast for a year, transferring within the bank to their Commercial team.
I joined Craigs Investment Partners upon returning to Christchurch in 2017 and commenced study towards becoming a Financial Adviser. I have been in my role as an Investment Adviser (FA/NZX) for four and a half years. My husband Kieran and I welcomed our son a year ago.
I really believe that St Kevin’s is a college of special character and I hope that it continues to thrive and produce well balanced people that know how to work hard but also find time to stay connected with their fellow SKC alumni, reminiscing about the old times, and continuing their positive connections into the future.
