At St Kevin’s College, our Junior Curriculum is based around the eight learning areas of the New Zealand Curriculum; that is English, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Social Sciences, The Arts, Learning Languages, Technology and Physical Education and Health, as well as Religious Studies. Within these learning areas, learners will experience a wide range of topics which are dependent on staffing and resources available in any given year.
Junior learners will be timetabled into the Learning Areas with the rest of their class at the beginning of the school year. ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) is facilitated through an individually structured in-class support programme by a dedicated ESOL teacher. In Year 10, learners may be offered the opportunity to study Cambridge English and NCEA Mathematics.
