ENGLISH STUDY PROGRAMMES

St Kevin's College offers three short term English study programmes for both local and international students:
  1. New Zealand Summer Course - a four week course held in January, focusing on accelerated English development in preparation for the New Zealand academic year.
  2. Northern Hemisphere Summer Group Course - a four week course focusing on accelerated English development. The course dates are organised to meet the travel arrangements of the group. August is the most popular month. Inquiries from individuals are also welcome as we can arrange placement within our existing programmes.
  3. English immersion experience - students are placed within our existing academic programme with individual English language tuition arranged to meet student's specific needs.

These programmes compliment our full year courses.

Why Study at St Kevin's College?

The facilities available at the College include modern classrooms and learning spaces, well appointed accommodation within the safety of the College grounds and a range of activities and services that will make study a pleasure. These combine to make St Kevin's College one of the top performers in the field of English language preparation for students.

Why Study in Oamaru?

Oamaru is a small town of approximately 14,000 residents, nestled beneath the Kakanui ranges, by the sea. An historic town in terms of early European settlement, Oamaru still preserves the Victorian heritage on which it was founded through its architecture and colourful Harbour Street market.

The proximity of the town between Christchurch, which is three hours to the north and Dunedin, one and a half hours south, gives Oamaru the accessibility of city entertainment with the advantages of small town living. Its access to the lakes, hills, sea and forests makes it an ideal destination for students interested in venturing into the great outdoors.

Oamaru is a small, safe, vibrant community where your student will not only be taught, but also cared for in a family environment.

The hostel has study facilities as well as a well-appointed kitchen and laundry.

The Course

The aim of this course is to prepare students for qualifications such as IELTS, as well as improving spoken and written English for students wishing to strengthen their skills in preparation for studying full time in the New Zealand Environment.
