St Kevin’s College’s has a proud tradition
of academic success. Our philosophy of providing pathways for all
learners no matter what their passion, particular career path or
further educational directions produces outstanding academic results
for both our students and the school as a whole.
Our achievement in NCEA is well recognised with our
results significantly higher than comparable schools and better
than some of “the best schools in the country”.
Our academic success is evidenced equally in the achievement of
both our boys and girls.
Both our boys and girls achieve similarly impressive
results when compared to their peers in other schools, both single
sex and coeducational.

Learning
Support
Students are tested as part of our Orientation process and our learning
Support SpecialistTeacher works closely with the RTLB teacher to
provide individual programmes. Literacy and numeracy skills are
the focus so that students are able to work within general classes
and gain a sense of satisfaction from their learning.
The College has a school-wide literacy programme and progress in
monitored using AsTTle
testing. Sustained Silent Reading is part of our vertical Tutor
Group programme.
In Senior School, students are offered a series of STAR and work
experience type programmes that complement NCEA Levels One, Two
and Three.
From the latest ERO Report 2007.
“Overall levels of student achievement are high. The percentage
of students in Years 11 to 13 who achieve NCEA certificates is usually
15% to 20% higher than the national average for comparable schools.
Years 9 and 10 students show a similar pattern to the results gained
by senior students.” |
