St Kevin's College is an integrated Catholic secondary
school in Oamaru with a long-established tradition of academic excellence
and outstanding all-round achievement. The College is set in park
like surroundings and offers facilities that promote the holistic
development of all students.
Founded in 1927, St Kevin's College is a day and boarding school
for students from Year 9-13. The College is one of the largest co-educational
boarding schools in the South Island. The current roll of 440 students
includes 160 students from all over the South Island. The curriculum
is well balanced and designed to provide all students with a well
rounded, quality education as well as the academic qualifications
to prepare them for future careers. International students contribute
cultural diversity and an international dimension to school life.
The cornerstone of education at St Kevin's College is the Christian
values embodied in the Catholic faith. The College provides opportunities
for leadership to equip students to stand up for values and principles
as well as developing the whole person by providing a well rounded
holistic education. Students have the opportunity to excel academically,
culturally and in sporting pursuits. The Special Character of the
College is based on Catholic values where respect for others, courtesy,
consideration, independence, self-discipline and responsibility
are fostered. Students are encouraged to develop a strong work ethic
and achievement is recognised.
